おもちゃ創りへの思い

The name KIITASU (Kitas) comes from
"tree +".

At a certain stage of your child's growth, we wanted to provide safe and secure wooden toys... This thought led to the start of KIITASU.
Let us introduce a little about our commitment and the warm craftsmanship of our artisans.

We have over 30 years of experience in woodworking.From the stage of selecting wood to planning, design, manufacturing, and delivery, we achieve uncompromising quality by carrying out all processes in-house.

＜How KIITASU toys are made＞

1. Purchase of logs

The wood used is from managed, sustainable forests in line with the spirit of the SDGs.

2. Saw the lumber into boards and thicknesses suited to the type.

Logs are processed into easy-to-use shapes and cut into boards and lumber depending on the purpose.

3. Drying wood

After sawing, the lumber is dried naturally or artificially, and only lumber that has been dried to a moisture content of 13% or less is used.

4. Shaping with a jigsaw or potter's wheel

The processed wood is cut into the desired shapes one by one, and round parts and rods are finished individually using a lathe.

5. Rough polishing and finish polishing

The cut wooden products have splinters and sharp corners, so they are roughly shaped using a drum. After rough shaping, each piece is carefully hand-finished with sanding.

6. Painting, drying and inspection

The paint used meets safety standards, so it is safe for your child to put it in their mouth. The finishing polishing and individual inspections after painting are also carried out carefully one by one until the end.

All steps are carefully done by hand by skilled craftsmen.

The shaping process involves changing the tools based on the shape and size. Cutting and polishing are done with a few millimeters of difference, relying on the sense of touch. Through careful manual work, the skill and thought are embedded in the process.

Local mothers are in charge of the finishing touches at the workshop.

The toys, carefully polished and inspected by their hands, possess a sense of security that gently envelops the children.
By utilizing their own parenting experiences and putting their love into the final touches, mothers make it even more special.

KIITASU's toys are made primarily from high-quality European beech wood, combining durability and beauty.The selection of wood is carried out by skilled craftsmen. Using that wood, artisans with many years of woodworking experience carefully create each piece by hand.

＜Strict inspection＞

Only safe and high-quality products are delivered to our customers, and we conduct inspections twice.
【First Inspection】 Craftsmen and workshop staff check for any issues with (appearance, finish, strength, wood texture, and safety).
【【Second Inspection】 A final inspection is conducted in Japan to ensure that no overlooked defects exist based on quality standards.

＜Safety＞

It is designed to be safe for your child to use. Considering the risk of accidental ingestion, it is made in a size that might seem a bit large for small hands.In addition, we use safe paint that has passed Japan's food inspections and is not harmful to the body even if licked.

＜Long-lasting design＞

We are committed to a simple and sophisticated design. We focus on light colors that are close to natural hues with visible wood grain, as we want to create toys that blend seamlessly into home interiors and are loved across generations.I hope you can also enjoy the aging process unique to wood, where it changes to a amber color and the tactile experience becomes a flavor.
